Words of Wisdom from the Cancer Survivor Speaker.  I love to share the lessons I have learned through my cancer survivor journey.

I truly believe what will set us free to live life joyfully and in peace is loving ourselves and others unconditionally.

When everything else is stripped away, nothing else matters, and all there is left is love.

I remember laying in my hospital bed, crying uncontrollably after hearing the news of my cancer diagnosis.  With such fear crawling through my entire being, I was lost and alone, but yet it all seemed so clear at the time.  Nothing really mattered except love.  Love for and from all the people around me.

Why is it so hard to love ourselves and others unconditionally?

Let’s start with loving ourselves.

As a tiny newborn baby through our toddler years we are love.  That is how we were created, as pure love.  Then through socialization into this world we begin to receive messages from our environment.  If we cry, there is a response.  If we laugh there is a response.  If we are hungry there is a response.  If we touch something breakable there is a response.  Those first years we are learning what these messages mean.  Then through actions and words we begin to respond to our environment based on the rules that we are learning.  We slowly move away from that pure love of our spirit and to our outside environment.  We slowly forget that our true self is love, peace, freedom and begin to believe our actions and thoughts are who we are.  Our environment or everything outside of ourselves seems to make the world go around.

We begin picking up messages that become the rules we start to live our life by.  For example, I am good if I do this and am bad if I do that.  Millions of messages we receive and stockpile and become who we think we are.  Then we carry these messages around with us for years.  With these thoughts are emotions.  Sadness, anger, depression, pain, etc. associated with these experiences are filed away within us.  All of these emotions become the files from which we use to live our lives.
