90 Second Tool for Calming Emotions

Isn’t science wonderful?!

Did you know the chemicals that make up our emotional feelings only stay in our blood for 90 seconds? 90 Seconds!  We all have the power to cycle out of worry, anger or fear…here’s how.  Feel how your “mood” or “attitude” or “feeling” actually feels in your body.  Are you calm?  Peaceful?  Happy?  Is life feeling pleasant right now?  If not, then REST, put yourself on PAUSE for 90 seconds.  STOP whatever you are doing.  Breathe.  Breathe again.  Breathe once more.  Then shift your thoughts to anything or anyone you love and allow your chest to relax: music, sunsets, mountains, oceans, dogs – and keep picturing and thinking and breathing for 90 seconds.  This isn’t a game, this is physiology.  You must be truly engaged with your emotions for this to work…and it does work!  You are the conductor of your internal chemical orchestra.

Integrative Medicine-Natural & Conventional!

A natural approach to cancer is based on making your body healthier. To strengthen a depleted, worn out, under energized immune system that is not capable of killing cancer cells as fast as they are multiplying. “

This is an article written by a friend of mine that I wanted to share.  As I continue my cancer support, I want to share this view.  This is information I just knew early on in my cancer survivor journey.  Read my blog post yesterday on truth!!!

Use this information in your journey to health.  If conventional treatment is right for you…great…!!  Also consider other ways to heal.

Cancer Drugs Make Tumors Grow?

Here is new research you must read on drugs used for treating cancer!

Again use what feels right to you in choosing your treatment plan.  I am here to offer cancer support and as a cancer survivor speaker, I am here to speak to you on all topics related to cancer survival.

Cancer Drugs Make Tumors Grow

Drugs like Avastin that are used to treat some cancers are supposed to work by blocking a vessel growth-promoting protein called vascular endothelial growth factor, or VEGF. With VEGF held in check, researchers have assumed tumors wouldn’t generate blood vessels and that should keep malignancies from growing. In a sense, the cancerous growths would be “starved”. But new research just published in the journal Nature shows this isn’t true. Instead of weakening blood vessels so they won’t “feed” malignant tumors, these cancer treatments, known as anti-angiogenesis drugs, actually normalize and strengthen blood vessels — and that means they can spur tumors to grow larger.

Love Your Mind Too

The mind is not the enemy, but we can make it so!

We need our mind to use and function in this world.  We just have forgotten how and when to use it.  We have come to believe we are our mind.  All the thoughts that exist have always existed in the universe.  There are no new thoughts.  We just keep thinking them over and over.  Then through time we have come to believe these thoughts and live by all these thoughts and NOW have become these thoughts.  As we have become these thoughts, we have lost ourselves.  We no longer can remember who we are.

Your thoughts are not to be avoided.  You don’t need to try so hard not to think them or to meditate them out.  Your thoughts are to be loved and understood.  When we try hard to change we are fighting against what is part of our existence.  Fighting against always creates more of the very thing.

My Sister’s Keeper

As we are consumed by the day to day activities and experiences when someone in our family has cancer, we sometimes can’t see or feel what is really happening around us or within us.  Cancer support is critical through this challenging time.

In My Sister’s Keeper, each individual of Ann’s  family was experiencing their own loss and with that all the emotions that accompany it.  Even as parent’s, they couldn’t really see what was happening to Anna and the internal turmoil and external pain she was trying so hard to cope with.  Their only son was lost and forgotten and living in a world unknown to them.  Kate was consumed with pain and guilt for what she was causing her family and especially her sister, Anna.  They were so focussed on Kate and keeping her alive, at all costs, they were unaware of the real “dying” all around them.

My Sister’s Keeper

My Sister’s Keeper” is an exquisite example of humanity’s desperate attempt to save their physical life.

Every human soul comes to this earth with a purpose, often unaware of what that purpose is, but deep down there is a tugging of the human mind and body to follow that journey from within.

What is your purpose?

Each person’s purpose is unique to them and I believe agree to long before they enter the human body.  Our purpose sets the course of our life and all others that we touch.  I believe we come together in our relationships for the purpose of assisting ourselves and others to really remember who we are and why we have come here.  We are waking each other up to our true essence.

Each of our experiences are moments for us to learn and remember the God within and the love and power we really are.

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER

I often remember, if this was your last day how would you live it????

Often we wait until a tragedy happens or we are faced with death to really look at ourselves and our lives.  I face dying from cancer to wake up.  Interesting how we often really start living when we are dying.

May this be a reminder for all of us to live NOW, to experience joy NOW, to say the things we want to say NOW, to do the things be want to do NOW….

We don’t know what tomorrow will bring.  Celebrate life NOW!

Use these words of wisdom in your life.

Healing With Energy

A friend of mine works with men and women with altzheimer’s and dementia.  She loves her work and celebrates life with these special people every day.  She says her purpose is to bring moments of joy to them each day.

What an amazing purpose!!  Get my book, A Search for Purpose here http://sheilaulrich.com/blog/products

One woman who is 86 years old worked hard her whole life causing her to experiencing physical pain in her lower back.  They do everything they can to relieve pain including giving pain medication.  Her family also requests a massage therapist to come in and work on their mother to try to make her as comfortable as possible.

One day the massage therapist came in and suggested she only do hands on energy healing that day.

We are more than our bodies!

We are first aware of our physical body, then our mental body and then OH, NO! what are all these feelings here for?? and then we begin to recognize our true selves.  Some people refer to this as our soul or our spiritual selves, our higher self, our knowing or intuition, our connection to God. Whatever you choose to call it is perfect for you.

I saw myself for many years of my life as this physical body.  I thought as long as I maintained this physical life with success, my life would go smoothly.  Through time many aspects of my physical world and life began falling apart.  I didn’t understand what was happening.  Everything was happening TO me and I didn’t see the connection.

Healing From Loss

Often when we are faced with a cancer diagnosis, other disease, loss or any crisis in our life it shocks and rocks our world.  All of a sudden everything about our lives we begin to question. We question why, who, what, where, and how………………………..

We wonder how we have gotten to this place.  It as if something just carried us to this point and now we woke up and said, “how did I get here?”

Through my cancer support I hear stories of individuals and how cancer, disease and other losses rock their lives, but also how the experiences helped them heal and often woke them up to a new life.

I am gathering stories of healing and lessons learned and how people took the lessons to their new life.  I would love to share them on my weekly radio show Truly Alive, with permission of course.
